Between Heaven and Earth

You may remember that I was 'head hunted' by the Trillium Gallery
a while ago. Some of my images are available as prints and framed/matted art.

Maureen, the owner of the  Trillium Gallery, was keen for me to showcase some of my more controversial art in the gallery. She liked it so much, she created a video to show it off properly. I am still totally flabbergasted by the amazing video she made, by the words she put to go with it and by the music created by Steve Rust. It made me see my own art in a totally new light.

Here are the page and video for you to see.
It uses images from the following series:

Fall from Grace
Almost Rock, Paper, Scissors
Bound I, II, II and IV
Prints of all the images are available on Trillium Gallery

Remember Paris

© Sybille Sterk

I've actually never been to Paris... but this reminded me of  turn of the century France with its faded colours and shabby chic. Taken with my old camera rather than the new one.

All images are mine or bought except for one of the grunge wall paper textures by Shadowhouse. Edited in Photoshop.

All my images are available on Redbubble, Artflakes, Society6 and Bluecanvas as prints, cards, posters, skins for laptops, Blackberry, iPhones and other phones (for the skins go to Bluecanvas).

daily views

Experimenting with my new camera and the Lensbaby Composer lens. It's raining today and I've got a cold so going outside to play was not on. :-( However, I am really pleased with how this set turned out. They are the things I see daily when I look around sitting at my desk. I spared you the mass of papers and other debris collected around my desk space. :-)

In a way this is a self portrait through the things surrounding me. Little things. :-)

All images/textures/brushes my own or bought. Edited with Photoshop.

Fall from Grace

Recent photo shoot. Something that came to me when I found a lot of feathers and fluff in the tumble dryer. :-) It's about the loss of innocence we all go through at some point.

the long road home

Home is a strange thing. It's made up of lots of little things and we never know what they are until we lose them and have to find them anew.

You can read the poem quoted in the image here

I lost my way
amongst the stars
infatuated by a
gleaming blue light

This image is about letting go, and in honour and memory of our cat Rodney who died last week. We're still very upset. It's amazing how big a hole such a small cat can leave. He was the best and sweetest cat ever and we miss him so much.

I just read a really good quote and I found it really reassuring. I hope it helps someone else:
everything will be okay
in the end

if it is not okay
it isn't the end

If not now, when?

All my own images.

The photo was taken in Cambridgeshire (near Balsham) and edited in Photoshop with my own textures. The quote is from graffiti I saw on a chimney a while back. I always loved it.

I couldn't decide which version I liked better - colour or black and white, so I am posting both. I felt that each had a different message. For me the black and white image seems to come from a place of despair and the quote seems to be a last ditch attempt to save what can be saved, whereas the colour version seems to carry a feeling of excitement and the quote appears to be full of wonder.

What do you think? Which version do you like better?
