Till Death Do Us Part

MCN: CJHK5-GGFF5-5DX8T

I saw this bottle in a shop window and just loved it. So I had to take a picture. :-) This involved a lot of editing as the other items in the shop window didn't go with the 'theme'. Perfect for a murder mystery book cover. ;-)

This the Sea

MCN: CEKJU-DVK5V-JUYYC

This is inspired by the wonderful model Jess Truscott and the song This is the Sea by The Waterboys. You can listen to it below.

I've always had a thing about the sea and water in general. :-) The sea always made me feel safe and free and I was always drawn to myths about the sea, especially the one about Tethys, Goddess of the Sea.

Floating Islands

 MCN: C3NUN-TW8C9-LJGP3

Detail image of the three islands in the top left corner.

The image was created with images of actual moss to make the top of the island, the bottom is either part of the moss 'pads' or bits of wood, stone, and bark.

I had great fun making them into little islands, each different from the others. I've included images from Leiston and Ely Cathedral, a tower in Happisburgh, an old beach torch as seen in Aldeburgh, trees from Rome, bunting from Cambridge and old watch parts for the gears.

The image took a week to create and pull it all together.

Counting Clouds

MCN: CEVG3-UTSVD-3KYMN

Ever been lying on your back in the grass looking up at the sky counting glouds? That's what I thought about with this image.

Icy Heart II
MCN: CSDQR-QEM6M-SX2QB
Arcangel: SYST-0125

The recent heavy frosts have allowed me to have some fun with scraping hearts into icy surfaces. The original surface was black so when I mixed it all up it looked like I'd scratched it into glass. :-) I love the intense feel of the first one and the grunge look of the second one. An alternative to all the sweet cards and images, something different and a bit edgy. :-)

Caught

A few days ago we had one of the really rare beautifully sunny days this winter. Crisp blue sky and wonderful light. Too good an opportunity to miss, so I cut a tiny heart garland from plain white paper (as you do) and stuck it in the rose bush (and various other vegetation) in my garden. (See below).

Of course I couldn't quite leave it alone, although I loved the photograph before all the edits, I love it even more with them... :-)

This time I hung the garland from the lilac bush. :-)

Bluebell Wood

 MCN: C2D2L-LS4TH-4A7P5

This is my version of the Bluebell Wood I visited last Spring. I liked the pictures I took, but they looked a bit washed out to me and never felt right. I finally had an epiphany when I discovered tilt-shift. It's a technique that allows you to either make something look like a model railway town or created a slightly otherworldly feel. I used this technique for the latter here.

I first cropped the image, then applied the tilt-shift (lots of tutorials out there) then applied gradients, colour and textures to go from the image below to the one above. Now it feels like the day I went out Bluebell-Spotting. :-)
